Since the internet began, libraries have played a key role in providing access to it. Despite widespread increases in internet availability, the essential role that libraries play in facilitating access, is not going away. It is important that Public Libraries in BC continue to upgrade their understanding of connectivity challenges and improve the technologies that they use to facilitate this access. Deepening understanding of connectivity challenges, will help libraries in the offering of both new digital programs as well as for more traditional services. It is our hope that this guide will provide better understanding of the underlying technologies that connect libraries, and their patrons, to the internet, and assist with procurement choices to improve these functions.
