Creating Nested Lists on the Collections Page
As of August 2024, the NNELS Browse by Collection page nests list items with similar names under corresponding parent terms.
If you are creating a new collection for an award that NNELS has created collections for in the past, you will need to nest that collection under its parent term.
To nest a new collection under an existing parent collection:
Go to the collection's page
Click
Edit
Click on Relations
to open up the dropdown menu
Select the parent collection the new collection should be nested under from the
Parent terms
list
Set Weight
.
List items with higher weight values are "heavier." Heavier list items will "sink" and appear lower on lists than lighter list items.
Set to 0
for most collections
Set to 1
for collections with names that end with "(Finalists)" or "(Shortlist)"
Click Save
You should see your collection nested under its parent term on the
Browse by Collection page. You should also see your collection listed on its parent page. If you click on the link for a parent term, it will take you to a page that is automatically updated with related child terms.
Editing Collections in bulk using the Taxonomy Manager in Drupal
To navigate to Drupal's Taxonomy Manager page, click here.
To assign a parent term to multiple collections at once:
Select child collections from the list
Click Move
from the Toolbar
Enter the parent term name that it should be a part of
if the parent term already exists, select it from the list of pop-up terms
if the parent term does not yet exist, enter the name of the collection following the same naming conventions as previous collections of its type
Click
Move
(under Options)
You should see the child collections you selected appear as nested under the parent term in the list once the page refreshes
You can also edit collection descriptions and weights from the Taxonomy Manager page. Make sure to click Save changes
