 +
+We're changing how Overdrive/Libby authenticates against Sitka’s Evergreen for all subscribed libraries; this includes libraries who participate in Library to Go, eLibraries Manitoba, and those that subscribe individually.  We're switching from SIP2 to PatronAPI which is a more secure authentication method and better protects your patron's privacy.
 +
+Library staff do not need to do anything. The Overdrive team will start switching over libraries on **Monday May 13th and they expect to have the change completed for all the subscribed libraries by Friday May 31st**.
 +
+Patrons may be prompted to log back into Libby but won't notice any changes and their e-items out and on hold will be unaffected.
 +
+Please contact Co-op Support if you have any questions.

+**BC Libraries Cooperative Support Advisory – Circulation Modifier Clean Up**
 +
+Co-op Support is continuing work to streamline the circulation modifier list.
 +
+We will be removing the following circulation modifiers and any associated circulation policies on **June 5th**:
 +
 +  * 1-day-loan
 +  * 2-day-loan
 +  * 2-hour-loan
 +  * 3-day-loan
 +  * 7-day loan
 +
+Items still using these circulation modifiers on June 5th will be updated to use “book” instead.
 +
+__Why are we removing these modifiers?__
 +
+These circulation modifiers regularly cause confusion as using them doesn’t automatically apply the loan period in their name. If you want items to circulate differently based on their circulation modifier you must first request that Co-op Support set up a new circulation policy for your library for the specified circulation modifier.
 +
 +http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_circulation_policies.html#_changing_your_circulation_policies
 +
+This confusion means that items are not circulating as expected to your patrons and requires staff time both from your libraries and Co-op Support to resolve.
 +
+__What do you need to do before June 5th?__
 +
+Libraries with both circulation policies and items using those circulation modifiers will receive an email this week outlining what is currently in use so they can let us know what their policies and items should be updated to.
 +
+We recommend all libraries run a report using the Sitka Template “Title & Item Count by Shelving Location and Circulation Modifier”. Details on where to find the template and how to run it can be found here: http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_collection_management.html#_title_amp_item_count_by_shelving_location_and_circulation_modifier
 +
+If your collection does contain items using any of the above circulation modifiers you can run a report using the Sitka Template “Circ Modifier : Copies with Selected Circ Modifiers” to find out what those items are. Details on where to find the template and how to run it can be found here: http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_collection_management.html#_circ_modifier_copies_with_selected_circ_modifiers
 +
+Before June 5th update these items to use a different circulation modifier. You can modify the report output in a program like Excel and then upload the barcodes to Item Status for easy batch updating. http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_item_status.html#_upload_from_file_choose_file
 +
+Please contact Co-op Support if you have any questions.

 +**BC Libraries Cooperative Support Advisory – Sitka Follow-up on Co-op's April 19, 2024, Cyber-Security Incident**
 +
+BC Libraries Cooperative sent out a [[https://bc.libraries.coop/news/cyber-security-incident-april-19/ | Co-op wide notice]] on Wednesday April 24, 2024, about a security incident we experienced on April 19, 2024. We are now following up with members using specific Co-op services, as the incident had implications for your patrons’ information.
 +
+The leaked log file contained the email address of anyone who received an email and the phone number of anyone who received an SMS message from a Co-op service between March 27 to April 19, 2024. This includes Sitka patrons who received automated notifications by email or SMS message for things like checkout receipts, overdue notices, and holds notifications during that period.
 +
+Only the email addresses of people who received notifications or the phone number of people who received SMS notifications were leaked. The content of the notifications was NOT leaked. The leaked data does not say what the notifications were about, and it does NOT reveal any other information about patrons or their library use, such as checkouts and holds.
 +
+The exploit which allowed the attacker to gain access to this log file was closed on April 19, 2024.
 +
+Please follow this link to understand what libraries should do next to communicate with your patrons and others about this incident: [[https://bc.libraries.coop/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/april-19-incident-Sitka-Response.pdf]]
