Split and Join Track Feature

When a track starts or ends with a small piece of audio from the neighbouring track, it is necessary to split this piece and join it to the correct track. You can do this on the Split Track page using the buttons Split and Join Previous or Split and Join Next located at the bottom of the Update and Split section

To handle these small sound clips do the following:

  • Find the split position using the options to move through silences, or use the time increment buttons to find it manually.
  • Use the Update button if needed to update the position.
  • There is no need to enter a title in this case, since you are not naming a new track.
  • When the piece of audio that needs to be split is at the beginning of the track, press the Split and Join Previous button.
  • When the piece of audio that needs to be split is at the end of the track, press Split and Join Next.
  • After your selection you will be returned to the Set Play Order page.
  • The split audio should now be part of the correct track.
If you get an error during this process, carefully check the track names and audio in both tracks involved before continuing with further work. Pay particular attention to the audio around the problem area. If you still have issues, email the error and steps you took to get the error to the Production Coordinator so they can log a Bug Report.
